Consists of letters from various U.S. Senators and other notable public figures, responding to Shecter's request for a comment concerning the late President Kennedy. Shecter had written to these individuals asking each of them for a one-sentence appraisal of Kennedy's life and presidency; he intended to collect these statements into a single volume. The respondents include Senators Daniel B. Brewster, Paul H. Douglas, Philip A. Hart, Vance Hartke, Edward V. Long, Eugene J. McCarthy, George S. McGovern, Pat McNamara, Claiborne Pell, Abraham Ribicoff, and Harrison A. Williams; Theodore R. McKeldin, the mayor of Baltimore; and J. Millard Tawes, the governor of Maryland.
